Ren sat on the tip of a mountain, looking at the sky. He wasn't cold, in fact, he was actually pretty warm. It was eerie. His thoughts raced on why he came here in the first place. The reason being, Bii. Since then, though, His whole chakra signature had changed, apparently. He hadn't even noticed, but the people here did have a huge affect on him.
The ninja took a deep sigh and his thoughts changed to strictly Bii. They time they spent together did mean a lot, and he did love her. But, he was in love with Homura. Nothing in the world would change how he felt about her. Nothing.
The wind started to pick up, and Ren sat up a bit, looking out at the island below. The snow hit his face, but he didn't mind that much.

Homura walked up the mountain shivering slightly against the snow. Her temperature regulation was off today. Shaking it off and trying not to let it show she headed further up the mountain against the snow. She knew Ren was up ahead, and he was thinking. She knew who he was thinking about. She sighed and continued staying light on her feet.
Another cold breeze caused her to shiver again. Caving in she shifted down to her small dragon form, her beast form. At least she could keep herself warmer like this. She trotted up to where she knew Ren was and walked up to him quietly. She stopped before she nuzzled him with her head softly.

Ren smiled as he felt a familiar nuzzle. He had been expecting it. He kissed the dragon's head softly, and thought to her. "Hey there. Why are you cold? I can feel it, you know."

Homura sighed lightly as she hopped into his lap curling up slightly. She turned her little dragon head up to look at him, "My temperature control is all off today. I can't seem to regulate it in my human form." She said quietly.

Ren took off his pendant, giving it to her. He smiled as the pendant would give off a familiar heat, keeping her warm, at his warmth's expense. He kissed her head softly.

She smiled lightly as he gave her the pendant. She shifted back to her human form curling lightly into him as she sat in his lap. "I don't want you to be cold though." She said softly, kissing his forehead softly.

"I'll be fine. As long as your warm, it doesn't matter to me."

She smiled lightly and wrapped her arms around him lightly, resting her head on his shoulder. "Up here thinking?" she asked feeling the soft warmth from the pendant spread through her body. She kept her form close to his, to keep him warm since he had given her the necklace.

Ren nodded silently to himself, wondering what he should do.

She sighed at his silence. Placing her fingers softly under his chin she looked into his eyes. "You know if you've got something on your mind, it might help to talk to someone. I can be here and just listen. You know you don't need to worry about what you say to me."

Ren smiled and kissed her forehead.
"She left first. I came here to look for her. The first time, I couldn't find her. At all. I went home to look, but I couldn't find her, So I came back here. We spent a lot of time together... things happened. Not too far, but far enough. I shouldn't have done it. Anyway, I came here, and the first thing I saw was two people on the roof, one of them being you. The rest, I'm sure you know."

Homura listened to his story, barring any emotional response from reading across her face or mind. Silencing her own thoughts she kept her gaze settled on his eyes. "So you came here in looking for her in the first place." she said quietly. She folded her hands neatly in her lap. She shifted her eyes to watching her hands for a moment. "I do know rest." A light smile crossed her lips.
Biting her lip lightly she looked back up at him. "Do you need to go help her?" Keeping her words calm, her thoughts and feelings blank. She needed to know. Needed to know, he'd said that he would protect her with his life. She didn't question how he felt about her, she never would, but she needed to know if he needed to go help the girl who called her his beast.

He grabbed her hands, kissing them softly. "I promised her I'd protect her, no matter what. I don't break my promises. I won't help her unless she needs me to. She is not my priority anymore. You are number one."

She squeezed his hands gently as he kissed them. "I know you wouldn't break a promise." She said quietly leaning her head against their hands. "And I wouldn't want you too."
She was glad to hear from Ren's words, on top of his thoughts that she was his number one priority. It let a soft smile creep across her face. Thinking back to the interaction with Bii she sighed lightly she though of the girls reaction to her. "She still wants me dead doesn't she? For changing your chakra."

Ren nodded, a serious look crossing his face. "She does, but I'll die before I let her kill you."

Homura curled into him. She had known the answer to the question, but still hearing it. She burried her head into him. She knew his words were true. "I know you would, but I don't want it to come to that. I'll should just work on staying away from her, to the extent its possible." She couldn't live with him dying for her, she didn't even want to think about it.

Bii appeared standing behind Ren, she injected him with a needle that would paralyze him and cause him to slump to the ground. Bii stared down Homura an eerie smile spreading across her face. "Stay away from me." She stroked her own hair as she spoke. "You will never escape from me. From the moment you bonded yourself to my Koibito, you marked yourself as my prey. And from this day on out....I'll weave my web around your life and strangle the breath from your shell of a body, lizard."

Homura felt Ren's body slump away from her, causing her to tumble slightly before she caught herself. Angry red eyes settled on the girl. Pulling herself to her feet, she growled. "I am bound to Ren, but he is also my fiance. I love him, and he loves me. I am not some common lizard, some dumb beast that will fall into your trap. I am not one you should underestimate. You don't want to **** off a dragon with a temper."

A cool, near to emotionless voice sounded behind the girls. "An exceedingly disappointing method of showing how much you care for someone. Injecting them against their will, and being embarrassingly oblivious. It does make one wonder who educated you. They may have missed a few key segments. Or perhaps you are not very bright." Aska settled lilac eyes on the spider creature.
"I would watch the names you call another, arachnid. Dragons are impressive and noble. Spiders are a nuisance. Something you are proving very well right now. Your bully's tactics are too simple." The cool smile that curved the petite woman's mouth held no genuine happiness. It was reptilian in it's lack of emotion. She held her hand out to Homura, offering her own strength.

Ren slumped foreward, unable to move. At all. Inside of his head, all he could see was red.

Ren had a formula. A methodology of how he worked and reacted to certain stimuli. Something she had learned from many years of observation. Bii closed her eyes as she felt the new woman's presence, visualizing her flow of chakra. Her words were like a breeze that blew through her. Bii's head rolled to the side as her eyes reopened with a dreamy gaze which settled back on Homura. "You're imprint...your love...your bond...it was all forced onto him. His "love" for you, is his coping with the burden of your life on his shoulders."

Homura's pendant would begin to glow. Brighter and brighter.

Homura breathed a short sigh of relief at the approach of the woman. A smile crept over her lips as she spoke to Bii, straightening up more, glaring at her. Homura took the woman's hand, grateful for the gesture.
As Bii spoke again her eye narrowed on the girl, her dragon nature showing through more now. Between her own rage and Ren seeing red, she was angry. Her claws on her other hand shifted out as she clenched the hand into a fist. "You know nothing about what has happened. Keep your flawed logic and opinions to yourself until someone around you gives a damn. I don't care what you think, and it will be a cold day in hell before you ensare me in some half assed trap."

"Trap?" Bii's face resembled a innocent child who was wrongly accused. Her expression dropped as quickly as it came. Her eyes stared at the hand she used to carelessly twirl a strand of her hair. "You're mistaken. I don't need a trap. I've tamed dragons before. I've killed them too." A scroll appeared in her hand.

Ren's chakra flared. Bright green. It was clearly visible. Bii knew he was giving himself an antidote. The light went for about a minute or so, before Ren stood up, shakily at first, but he got up. He **** his neck, then his knuckles.

As the girl grasped the hand of the priestess, her hand, at first touch, was more than a little warm. Homura felt that warmth flow through her. It seemed to strengthen her, toughen her. That magic settled in her very veins, and created a buffer. At the same time, it gave her a bit of mental clarity and separation from the emotion that could crowd in around her. It was a bit like a shield from the poison the arachnid had to deal.
Aska drew a light hand over the girl's head. It dawns on Homura that this should be what her bond with Ren did. And yet, it hadn't seemed to be doing so lately. The small statured priestess tsked soflty, looking at Bii. And then she stepped back. "Exterminate the spider, koishii. It is killing to be kind. We cannot have something rabid being so troublesome."

Homura looked at her hand for a moment, a slightly perplexed look settling across her face for a moment as she felt the magic settle into her veins. The look quickly disapeared as she felt stronger and her mind felt clearer.
At the girls words Homura stepped forward a distinct glare in her eyes. "I am certianly not something for you to tame, and you will not be the end of me." Letting loose the full set of claws and her wings she sprung across the distance aiming to swipe her claws through the girls chest. However at the last second she changed the direction and came in from the side digging flame covered claws into her side.

Homura's claws tore through Bii ripping her into shreds which dissipated into splinters of wood. Bii reappeared a few meters away.
She threw out the summoning, nipped her thumb and bled. A massive furry tarantula was summoned. It shot thick web strings at Homura.

The webs? Cut. By Ren's tanto. He stood in front of Homura, silent. Deadly. With his sword pointed at Bii, he walked towards her, knowing she wouldn't actually hurt him. Wait.. Yes she would. Anyway, he walked towards her, his sword poking her throat.
"What did I tell you? I told you, that if you touch her, I'll kill you myself. Now. Either, make that **** spider go away, or I kill myself." Yes. He said that right. He said, now holding the blade to his throat. Bii would know that he was serious. Homura would know that he wasn't. Ren? Ren was just trying to get control of the situation.

Bii stared through him in Homura's direction. "You're a fool." Her words were directed at him. The tarantula poofed. "Tell her one thing. Tell me another. Are you being honest with yourself Ren Nara? Are you truly responding to whats in your heart?"

Homura watched the blade hover against Ren's throat and stepped forwards behind him, letting a fair bit of distance remain. As the girl looked at her she growled internally twitching her claws. The girls words fell on her ears, and tensed up slightly. That question, unnerved her somewhat as she remained glaring.

Bii could sense the falter in the two's joined chakra. The sensation pleased her. "As I thought." She turned on her heels and body flickered from sight.

Ren stood there. He looked at Homura, feeling exactly what she did. He looked at her, his eyes more serious than they had ever been.
"What was that?"

As Ren placed his eyes on Homura, the petite woman moved behind the dragon, a hand upon her shoulder. Cold lavender eyes looked at Ren, that reptilian smile on the priestess' face again. "I suggest that, instead of looking so very insulted about the flash of worry she feels, you tell her the answer to the spider's question. Your **** is allowing you to be dragged around like a puppy. It is not attractive." Said the woman, ice in her words.
Consistent abuse and wrong decisions on his part. And now he wondered why she doubted. He'd made his choice already, it just appeared certain factors hadn't caught up to others. The fool.

Homura felt the woman's hand on her shoulder, the glare look Ren was giving her making her want to hide. What had she done, why was he glaring at her. The worry had been wanting to know his response to the girls question, why were those cold eyes turned on hers. She looked down and waited.

Ren sat next to Homura, his hand twining with hers. His eyes turned soft, and he took a deep sigh. "Do... Do you really doubt me? I.. I know I can be cold sometimes, but.. But I don't want you doubting me.. Not again. It hurts. I know we've doubted each other before.. I don't want that happening again. Ever. I love you, and you know that." He said, his eyes watching her.

Homura looked down for a moment, chewing on her lip. She sighed lightly and trained her eyes up to his. "I don't want to doubt you. I want to be able to trust in everything you say, everything I feel However ever since she showed up, " She started quietly, before taking a deep breath.
"Ever since she showed up it seems like everything has been done to drive doubt into us. I have been called a beast, your beast, and a lizard. Likened to no more than a mere mindless woodland animal. I have been told all of this by a girl you have sworn to protect with your life. I have been spoken to like a dog, like someones pet. I have been told that I have perverted your chakra, with my family problems. That the impurities come from how I can't seem to adequately deal with my brothers. All of this and how am I supposed to feel. Am I supposed to pretend that none of this affects me, none of it shakes me, none of it makes me feel like less of a person." She looked down person lingering in her mind. Tears threatened to start rolling down her cheeks as she held them back.
She looked up at him, shaking slightly. "I don't want to doubt you, you know that. You know how I feel for you. But "Don't let her get to you" doesn't work. I can't just block everything out."

"I know... I know its hard I know how you feel. I need you to be strong. You are stronger than her. I swore to Protect her with my life, but you. You.are my life. I am nothing without you. I need you. I love you. I don't mean to make you doubt. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. Just.. I need you to be strong. I need you. I love you. I didn't mean for any of this to happen.." He said, squeezing her hand. Tears were flowing.

Homura squeezed his hand as he squeezed hers on instinct. She bit her lip lightly as she listened to his words. A deep sigh escaped her. "You need me to be strong. How do you want me to do that? Should I pretend that none of this affects me, that none of it hurts? Should I turn a smiling face to the world as I act as if none of this has happened?" She searched his tear stained face for his response. A few tears rolled down her own cheek. She was looking for answers. How did he expect her to handle this?
She played lightly with the edge of her dress. "You didn't mean for this to happen, didn't mean for me to doubt. But words cut deep, and they hurt. To be treated like and spoken to like something no better than a common pet, to be told that I'm little more than a beast masqurading around as a human." Her gaze settled on her hand, knowing what lay beneath the flesh exterior and sighed. "I don't want to ever have cause to doubt you, just like I don't want to give you cause to doubt. You know that I love you, but I can't just dust myself off and pretend like nothing was ever said." She watched him, waitng for his response. Knowing she'd feel every ounce of what he felt.

Ren's heart began to ache. He took a deep breath, shaking his head lightly. A pounding in his chest, as he fell silent. He honestly didn't know. His head still shaking, his grip tightening on her hand. Then, nothing, His muscles had relaxed, and he had stopped moving.
"You can be strong in more ways than one. I know how you feel. I do. I've been in that spot before. I know it hurts, but we worked it out. I was strong. He knew that I was hurting, but I never once let him see it. Because If I did, that means that he would have won. And if he had won, then I would have lost you.
" Then, a few minutes of silence again.
He didn't know what to say, but his body was still lifeless. All emotion gone from his eyes. He was shutting down. Something Homura hadn't seen before. Ever.
"I'm sorry." Was all the ninja could manage.

Homura sat in silence as he spoke, taking in his words. She felt his hand tighten on hers then go slack. She heard every word as it settled into her. She felt everything then pain in his chest and then nothing. She felt vacant, emotionally numb.
She looked back into his eyes hers mirroring his. Her voice quiet. "You wouldn't have lost me to him. I would have made my choice regardless. I'll be stronger. I'm sorry a moment of worry is a loss." She put the pendant she made for him back in his hand. She had given it to him, and its meaning wouldn't change. She still wanted him to be warm, for him to have it. She pulled back slightly shifting back to that fox sized form of hers, and watched the snow accumulate on the ground. She looked at him again, "I'm sorry." She knew they were both hurting but had started to shut down. Time was needed, by both.

Ren took the pendant and stood up, and in the blink of an eye, was gone.

Aska shook her head. Here the little one was apologizing to a man that didn't deserve it. A man that should be apologizing to her, answering her questions, allaying her fears. Instead, he had fed her lies and guilt. Aska knelt elegantly, smoothing the kimono that clothed her body, and waited for the now fox sized dragon to move toward her.
"Little one, I have long been here. Many things I have seen. And a man that will not soothe your fears, hold you when things are wrong, and choose your happiness and well being over even his own pride is not who he says he is." She said softly. "I will take you to my home, koishii. No one can find you there. Not even this man and this spiderthing. Do you wish for that?"

The small form of Homura moved carefully padding through the snow towards Aska. Her steps were light, not necessarily tentative, she was just tired. She approached the woman, the weight of the conversation written across her face, even in her dragon from. She sat infront of the kneeling woman and nodded her head softly. Words themselves not coming from the little dragon, as her mind sorted through Aska's and Ren's words, but the nod was clear. Time away where she couldn't be found, where she could sort through the thoughts in her head, was needed. Aska's offer was a welcome option for her.

In what would be the easiest way for Homura's current form, Aska simply reached over and plucked the little dragon up. The priestess is warm in her kimono, the silk of it smooth and well cared for. Both woman and dragon disappear in a flash and swirl of light.
