Jess ran looked at him and sat down near the two of them, sinking to a lower level than them. She didn't want to impose on Lya comforting him. She had been the ones less than subtle about the whole situation. She was sorry that she had been so cold and direct. She deserved the look Lya gave her, she should have tried to be less direct, but she was struggling with this. She was clearly still having trouble coming to terms with the whole situation.
Slowly, quietly she attempted to answer his questions. "I'm so sorry Gregor. I never wanted to have to tell you that. I'm sorry it was so blunt." She looked down obviously distraught. "It wasn't that long ago, a few months. The details are still a bit unclear, its part of why I'm away right now. I wasn't just following you."
She bit her lower lip lightly as she prepared to share what she knew. "She had gone out hunting one day. It took her longer than usual to come back, and I got really worried. I went out looking for her but I couldn't find her. It was hard to follow her scent, it was like it was masked or gone. I looked all night and couldn't find her." She shook her head shaking slightly. "The next morning half the pack was out looking for her. I....I finally found her." She fell quiet the image of being the one to find their mother still burning brightly in her mind. She looked up at her brother, and her best friend and whispered, "I'm sorry."
