Nicola smiled at her husband, if nothing else. She heard the words the boy said, and stiffened. Her lips pursed in a moue of distaste. She hated that language. And the fact that he'd aimed it at her daughter was simply another offense.

"We will go see our son. Take us there, milaya. Show us what you have done with your shop." She gained her feet gracefully, her hand on her husband's arm. She gave a wave of her hand. "Proceed, daughter. We will follow."

Lyra stepped into the restaurant, dressed to match her date. She looked elegant, pampered and well groomed. She follows him to their table in silence, sitting in the chair pulled out for her gracefully. She allows her escort to order the wine, and inspects the menu. She addresses Nero in Venetian.

"The day went very interestingly. It seems the other faces work just as well here. But it's good to have my own back for an evening with you." She reached out her hand to the man as she looked over her menu.

nera took the hand offered and kissed it. he matched her language, an accent showing. "its good your first day went well, but im glad this face is back" he smiled and ordered some red wine (not getting specific on this)

Lyra looked up from the menu, smiling slightly. "Ever charming. You are good to me, la mi notte" Her thumb rubbed over his knuckles lightly. The accent peeking from behind his words makes her smile. "Having a thought of other times? Your past is showing."

She looked up at him playfully. "Good words to remember. Better watch, someone might mistake you for a wise, old sage, and wonder how you got so smart, Notte." She kissed the hand she held, then set the menu away from her. Leaning her chin on her hand, she looked at the man. "What do you think about that brings the music forward, dolce Notte?" She kept to her Venetian as she spoke.

A quiet thank you is given to the waiter, but he is barely spared a glance. Her attention is on the man. Her sulky mouth was forming into a pout. Though his words make her smile for just a moment. "Si sta evitando la mia domanda, il mio amore. State facendo così affascinante. Ma io sono a voi." She sipped her wine. "Perché non mi dici?"

Her full mouth continued to sulk. This was the unfortunate part. He knew all of her past, but she knew only what he'd told her. Which was to say, not much. It was near to impossible for him to hide anything from her, now. But even his memories had been blocked from her ability.

She hadn't come far enough from her past to push him, or to let the sulk linger on her lips, whether she felt it or not. Harsh lessons learned told her that it didn't matter if you were unhappy with their choice. It went better for her if she simply dropped it. She backed away from the subject with caution.

Her eyes dropped to the table in front of her. She knew not to apologize. So, instead, she searched her mind for a different topic. A safe topic. Her voice wavered just slightly when she spoke, her eyes still lowered, this time looking at her wine.

Her Venetian faded away, leaving her speaking English. Oddly, when she spoke English, her voice had the edge of a drawl. "I think I'm going to order the chicken marsala. Your choice on the appetizer." Her eyes have shifted color. They are both a silvery, misty grey.

She lifted her eyes. "Nope. Not at all, Notte. I'm peachy keen." Her silvery eyes spoke of nothing but truth, but he knew she was a consummate liar when she wished to be. And down home girl wasn't Bella.

The thing that gave it away was the moment she began playing with her hair. Bella wouldn't do that at the dinner table. The woman across from him was slouched slightly. And nera could have bet anyone an amount of money, and won, that her legs were not crossed.

All of it added up to one thing. This wasn't the woman he knew.
