Title: Time For A Hunt (10/16, open-ish, night)
Post by: Gregor Nye on September 19, 2012, 03:54:08 pm
A certain wolf was trailing up a path, his nose to the ground, sniffing. Any that would look, knew that this wolf was hunting. That meant, stay the hell out of its way.

Another wolf, midnight fur thick and full, had her nose to the ground beside him. She raised her head, a flick of her ear, as she scented the air. Her tail whisked lightly at the air. But her body went absolutely still as her nose caught the traces of something. Her ears flattened slightly. Nose still to the ground, she began jogging.

Gregor saw Elyana's reaction and started jogging next to her. It wasn't hard. At all. He looked at her and asked her an important question:   "What has you so riled up?"

Her nose still to the ground, Ely's eyes met his. "Mountain River clan scent. They're the one's that lost the Alpha's daughter." She said, jogging easily as she tracked the scent. "The only other clan scent I expect to find here is the Red Sunrise clan. They lost one of their mutts." She said, ears shifting to catch sounds around them both.

She lfited her head for a moment. "Speaking of mutts, we should let ours know about the dangers here. The person killing us shifters doesn't care whether they change or not. He's got the blood, so he might be a target." She said grimly.

He stopped and shifted to his own form, scratching his chin. "Hmm... I see. That may pose problems " he said, shifting back into a wolf. He nudged her head with his and followed the scent.

She nudged him back, tracking the scent further up the mountain. Before long, both of them lost it, however. As if it just stopped being there. It was odd. No trail led back down the mountain. Ely plunked her hindquarters down on the ground, head swivelling. Her brow furrowed and her golden eyes puzzled. She moved to the trees around them both, sniffing at them, to see if she caught a scent.

She turned her head back to Gregor, growling out her puzzlement to him. "The scent vanished. The ****."

He sniffed around, looking for the scent. He looked everywhere, but, nothing. The wolf seemed to let out a sigh, then lay on the ground.

"This is weird, I don't like this feeling.."   He said, moving next to Ely.

She gave a snort of frustration, her ears laying back to her head. "It's horrid. I don't get it. And I really don't like it. It isn't as if we're these weakling easy targets. How could something just make us disappear that way? I don't think we should look into this if we aren't together, Gre." She laid her head over his back after she gave his cheek a lick.

His eyes were scanning the area. He was in defensive mode right now. Nothing disturbs him or his mate, anything that does may suffer.

He gave a low growl, to agree with his lover. His trail Flicked back and forth lightly.

Her lush tail beat a soft tattoo on the ground for a moment as she gave another lupine sigh. She nudged her mate, getting to her feet. "Let's be away from here. I don't know how they took Celia, but I don't like it here. We need to let Jess know not to come up here alone. Do you think the pup can be trusted with that information? Or will he do something stupid?" Gregor knew his cousin better than she did. The young male tended to keep his distance.

"It seems fairly likely that we have the start of a pack here. You, me, Jess, the pup if he wants to be a part of something. We're just missing a couple of others, but it'll work. Feel up to starting our own, Gre?" She set up a trot back down the mountain to other parts that smelled less tainted to her nose.

It led them to the less explored side, off the trails. No human smells to be found. Far more home to a  wolf, that way. She disappeared into the underbrush, and then really did disappear. He knows this game. Very well, in fact. It was only a matter of time before she pounced on him. It might simply be a question of when and in which of her forms. Never could guess with his mate.

He reverted to his own form, then smiled. He knew this game very well. He shifted into a  beagle, sniffing for her scent.

"Ely, we both know you always win this game. But, not today." He said, sitting on his hindquarters.

Okay, the beagle was fairly adorable. But her scent was nowhere to be found. No one was better at hiding that than Ely was. If you didn't have muscle to toss around, it was better that they didn't find you. Though she was tempted to get him to bay like the hound he'd taken the form of. That would just be far too cute.

Still unseen to the eye, she moved upwind, and let her scent float to the scenthound. Beagle instincts. Bark treed. Then she scampered, turning her scent back off. Yep, cute.

Gregor ran after the scent, only to  find nothing. He whined slightly, sniffing around, looking for his lost mate.

Her heart might have melted slightly at the whine. The wolf inside her recognized that sound. She took the form of a fox, silver and brown fur the autumn colors. And then she played fair. She pounced on him, yes. But she let him find her and chase her, the fox to his hound. The humor amused her.

"You always win, that's not fair." He joked, licking her face. He reverted back to his own form and started to climb one of the trees on the trail.

She licked him in return, coming to her own form chuckling. She watched him be a hairless monkey, as she would have put it out loud. "Sugar, I should win at Hide-and-Seek. I'm a No Moon. Finding people, and making sure people don't find me keeps me alive. Don't have the brawn, I got the brains." She said teasingly. She kept the more serious thought to herself, but it made the smile fade some. Had to be good enough to beat the noses of everyone, especially men. Hide-n-Seek is different when it's you being held as the prize. She'd never realized how different the Full Moons that she loved were from the rest, until neither were in a position to help.

Gregor saw the smile fade from her face, and immediately jumped down from the tree. He looked at her with a frown.

"What's wrong?" He asked, sitting down near a tree and brought her with him. He didn't like seeing her sad. In any form.

It was different to see his mate sad. It wasn't an emotion the mischievious and playful No Moon experienced very often. She did settle herself against her mate, and lean into him. "I had to get good at Hide-and-Seek, sugar. I've always had a soft spot for you Full Moons. You and Daddy are wonderful examples. But not all the Full Moons are quite so shining." He knew his moon was competitive and typically wanted what they desired.

"There wasn't any way for Daddy to save me, and you'd left. The only thing he could do was give me the sort of game I could win. Seven of them challenged him to take me as mate during the years. He told them they had to find me and bring me back in within two days. Then they could have me. Obviously, they didn't manage it. But it was close. I suppose, I just wanted that back. We used to play it all the time." She said softly. He'd be angry, but he had to see. Had to know why she wasn't always the same woman he'd known for so long.

Gregor sighed and leaned on her head.

"If I was there, they all would have ended up like Matthew.". He said, kissing her cheek. He intertwined his fingers with hers, kissing her hand.

She refrained from saying the bitter thing she might have once. But the thought still moved through her mind. But you weren't. And as far as I knew, or anyone else had, you didn't want me. So, I wasn't shielded by that. She could have told him that he'd left her to the vultures that he'd kept at bay. But she didn't want to fight, didn't want to argue.

She shifted the topic. "What did happen to Matthew? You were friends for the longest time. Then I don't know what hit him. He'd never been like that toward me before. I had no idea he even wanted that." He had refused to tell her at the time. She hoped maybe he might now.

"Matthew isn't with us anymore."

His face was cold as he spoke. He was that protective of her.

That tone. She forgot he had that tone inside him. Cold as a Russian winter. "Hey, okay, sugar. You can put away the ice. Just No Moon curiosity." She looked up at him, her brow furrowed. She hated that voice. It just...wasn't the Gre she knew. She came to her knees, climbing to perch in his lap. "No growly faces. Didn't know it still bothered you so much." She understood the need for the fights. She'd had her own instances of it. But he held it so close to him. She let herself shift into one of the cutest things she knew of. Wolf pup sat in his lap instead of Ely, all fuzzy black body and big amber eyes. She yipped at him, a little warble of sound.

Gre couldn't help but smile. He scratched the pup, behind the ears. He always had a soft spy for wolf pups.  He smiled and kissed its forehead.

A pink tongue slurped his hand, and the little pup came to her back feet, her front paws braced on his chest. She looked at him, and then proceeded to cover his face in puppy kisses fairly thoroughly. Her little tail wagged happily, though unlike an actual pup, her sharp little puppy teeth were carefully controlled.

Gregor laughed s the puppy left kisses on his face.  It was too adorable. He shifted into a wolf pup, auburn fur. He got into a playful stance, then pounced.

The pup rolled with the pounce and gave a short yip. He ends up on top, there was little doubt of that, but Ely's back feet still can get him. She's just choosing not to. One of her front paws batted at his face, as she playfully nipped at him.

Gre pawed  at her  face, licking it gently. He rest his head on her stomach, nuzzling it.

"Have you told Elliott about our pack?"

She rolled to her side, squirming nearer, and licking his cheek. "I haven't yet, but I plan to soon. Gotta make sure the pup knows what's goin' on. Happenings around here have me worried about him. He's not like us. Not as tough. Makes me twitchy." She got to her feet, pouncing on him playfully, stretching her puppy body out and licking his nose.

"Good, I do not want family hurt." He said, smiling.

Her lashes swept down over her eyes as she sat up, arms automatically crossing about herself in a protective manner. Her face set in rigid lines, angry, bitter. "Brutus. He came the closest. The spirits got me out of it. But it was as close as Matthew. He was very set on staking his claim before he took me back." Her hands rubbed over her arms as if she was chilled. Perhaps she was, in a sense. There's very little expression in her tone. She could still hear him calling for her. Occasionally in her dreams.

She turned her face into his neck with a soft sigh. She had to remember she was safe now. He was here. With her. And the nightmares of the past could just stay there. She laid a soft kiss on the curve of his neck , nuzzling lightly, her arms creeping around him.

The purr pulled a smile from her, slight but still there. She nuzzled his neck further, before she gave a nip into the curve, following it upward to his jaw. Her nose brushed his cheek as she left a kiss there. She moved her mouth to his ear, whispering softly. "I love you, Gre."

It was her turn to bare her neck, her teeth nipping his ear lightly, giving a contented little hum, lips brushing against his skin. Her hands brushed nails softly over his neck and into his hair. "Mmm. Always sounds good."

That was exactly why she loved peppermints. Her nose and mouth hovered over his skin, as if that scent was something she might be able to taste. Something she desired a taste of. She moved with his guidance at first, and very quickly broke away from it. It didn't take much to bear him backward, flat to his back.

She perched above him, coming to fully hover over him on her hands and knees, wolf amber eyes flashing back at him. That familiar sweetness of her scent, floated on the air around them.

Her lips drifted from his, nibbling on his neck. Her teeth gave a bit of a harder bite, leaving behind a faint mark, made deeper by the lightest suction applied. She claimed him, subtle, but definitely there.

She sat up. And there wasn't a doubt in her mind about what she planned to do. The shirt he wore was shredded rather easily from him. Barriers for Ely never lasted long.

A bit of mischief glittered in her eyes as she lowered her mouth to his torso, gaze rolled up to meet his. Teeth, tongue and lips explored thoroughly. Still the patient No Moon watched. She's definitively waiting for some sort of reaction. And determined to get it from her lover.

Her mouth hovered at an area right below his navel. Her lips brushed at the skin there, hertongue tracing a circle. She looked at him, stalking back over him to look down into his eyes. She gave him a final kiss, deep and consuming before she pulled away. "I think it's time to go home, sugar. I'll meet you there." She shifted into her wolven form, disappearing into the shadows, scampering off toward home.
