Title: Can I Be Your Memory? [closed, night, 8/6]
Post by: Kaya Mitsume on August 06, 2012, 05:19:01 pm
Night fell, and sleep came for most. Two people slept in their own beds, unknowingly dreaming of one another. Threads tugged lightly within both of them, bound as they were.

From sleep to dream, both fell into a whirlpool of their own memories, those shared. Doubt, fear, shame, and jealousy had begun coloring their bonds vaguely. Magic had bound them, in many ways, painfully. Now, both psyches and souls were set free of earthly bonds.

Flying in the blink of an eye, both find themselves standing together in white marble halls. Torches lit the walls. It doesn't make it a warmer place. It, in fact, makes it appear startlingly cold.

Kaya stood in a white linen double chiton. It fits loosely over her frame, seeming to not reveal much from the front. It is only obvious once viewed from the side that the dress not nearly so modest.

It is clasped together with golden twining knots that looked like thorned roses. The line of her body is clearly shown through in an inch and half of skin. She has similar cuffing around her forearms. Clear tattoos appear on her forearms, two daggers. Her hair is gathered in dark curls on her head, her eyes lined in kohl and her lips tinted. Her sandals laced up her calves, also gold in color. Ivy is twined in her hair. A golden chain wraps her waist, the end dangling along her thigh, another rose ending it.

Her skin is golden olive, her blue green eyes alive with the colors of the Aegean. Most every detail of her form is well manicured and perfectly cared for. There is a polish and pristine quality about her. She looks not unlike a priestess for her mother. Her face is wary. It is also obvious she's not wholly confused about this circumstance. She certainly knows where they are.

Miles was swept into the hall. He was wearing his usual blazer and V-neck, but there were some, let's say, off, things about him. He was taller, for starters, about 6'0'. His glasses were gone, making his shiny brown eyes glow in the hall. He had a tattoo of a spider on his forearm, and his voice was deeper. Much deeper. His once straight hair was once again curly, and he could hear again. By the gods, he could hear.

He looked around the halls, obviously confused about where he was, and what he was doing here. He was confused, until he saw her. His eyes lit up, and his heart started to beat faster. He didn't say anything, as he didn't think he was supposed to, but every so often, his eyes would wander back to Kaya.

She could feel his eyes on her. Here, in what amounted to a dream, it makes her feel less nervous and anxious. It's acceptable now. Dreams were mutable, like the open water. The rules weren't the same in dreams. Hypnos followed his own drum.

Her own eyes lifted to his, looking back at him. She can hear his heart beating faster, and had watched his pupils dilate. She looked around slowly, still cautious. This place would never be one of her favorite places. She held out her hand to him, inviting him to her side. She waited for his questions. Dream Kaya is far more goddess, and far less teenager.

When she put her hand out, he took it, slowly, but he took it. His brown eyes locked on hers. He had a couple of questions, but he was only going to ask one.

"Where are we?" He asked. He was nervous, but Kaya made that nervousness dwindle.

Her ocean eyes looked back at him. "We're in the Halls of the Fates." She watched him hesitate to take her hand, and she tilted her head questioningly. He'd never hesitated that way before. She hid away the sadness that whispered softly to her. Sad that they'd ended up where they were, with him hesitating to take her hand.

Miles realizes that, at the height he is now, he stands nearly a foot above the little goddess. He hadn't realized exactly how tiny she was before. She looked up at him for long moments silently. "We're dreaming, do you know that?" She said softly.

Miles had a look of sadness and confusion on his face. She knew exactly what he was thinking: What led to this?. He hesitated to hold her hand, for goddess' sake. Kaya really was tiny. No wait, he was taller than his usual 5'9.

"I'm dreaming?? Wait, why are we even here?"

She pressed her cheek to his arm. "I don't know why they brought us here. I'm confused, as well." The press of her cheek was both affection and apology. She'd been doing a lot of that lately.

She pulled him slowly down the hall. It's obvious she knows this place well. She looked up at him, eyes softened. "I was dreaming about you. I remember that."

Miles kept his eyes straight. He was in deep thought. "I was back in the abandoned prison. My body had been mutilated. I remember now. But there was something different; After everything settled, you were standing there. You were crying, and you kept saying how sorry you were, and how much you loved me. I don't get it..." He said, his voice quavering. He followed her down the hall.

The symbolism within his dream chilled her to the bone, and those kohl lined eyes were shuttered behind her eyelids, as she hid away how closely it echoed some of her worst fears. Some of the thoughts that had come from all of this.

Her hand tightened on his, though. It's obvious that struck her deep and close. "Not exactly a fairytale, huh?" She asked softly, eyes still shuttered slightly, so it was harder to read her thoughts and feelings.

He shook his head. "It didn't end there. It ended when we were on the roof. After that scream, I blacked out and woke up.. I couldn't hear anything.." He said, tears starting to fall. "It's no fairy tale at all.." He said, giving her hand a squeeze.

Kaya lowered her gaze. She had nothing she could say. She'd apologized, but it wasn't okay. Never would be. Long moments of silence followed, where the little goddess avoided looking the man beside her in the eye.

That silence ends when a voice, musical yet very adult. "Threads woven together, tainted with dismay, jealousy, resentments and distrust. What are children doing meddling with the strands?" It asked. It wasn't said angrily. More, it was said in curiosity.

Miles looked confused. "What is the voice talking about." He asked, looking around. "What strands?"

The voice laughed. "The strands of life, child. Of life, death, path walked and present. Yours have tangled with the little goddess very deeply, and yet, I sense you are not happy, little arachnid. You've woven a tangled web, and have even managed to tangle yourself within it. How do you plan to get yourself out of this one?"

Miles eyes locked with the floor. For once in his life, he had nothing to say. He didn't know what he was going to do, Hell, he doesn't even know why he's here.

In moments, before them stood a woman. She was obviously Matron. The Mother. "I am Lachesis, young spider. Together with my two other sisters, we control the Loom of Life. Clotho, young maiden, weaves the string together. I, Mother, measure and create, and Atropos, Crone, severs and begins anew. We are the Morai. Eternal beings." She said very patiently. This was a woman who had all day.

"Tell me of the web you have built around yourself, young spider. Tell me of your hopes, your dreams, your deepest desires. And the pathways you've taken to get them or not." She told him. And it seemed itwould likely behoove him to speak.

He sighed. "I might as wellstart from the beginning. It started when I came to this school, a couple of months ago. When I met this goddess." He said, looking at Kaya. "We spent a little time together, and then, someone else placed themselves in the story. A swordsman named Haro Masamune. After Kaya met him, it was hard for me to actually talk to her alone, and it was so aggravating.." He said, his eyes closed. "Then, we went to visit a haunted mansion, and that was hell in itself. By then, we had both developed feelings for Kaya, and that suit... it didn't help any.. It showed me that she had feelings for him, and that was manifesting... Everything I saw in that mansion, it was Kaya and Haro..." He said, his voice quavering. "Skip a few days, and we were at the ocean.. They went swimming.. I don't like water much, so I didn't get in.. They..uh....The suit..." He said, tears falling. "It showed me what they were doing...It made me stop them.." He said, letting go of Kaya's hand. His own were balling into fists. "It knew that it would hurt her, and it made me hurt her... Then, there was the roof. I threw the suit, then I went to go find it... Next thing I know, I'm covering my ears..I couldn't hear anything.." He said, freely crying.. "I've always tried to hide from showing my feelings, but now, they're just finding me. I don't know.... I just want to protect her, but I always end up hurting her.." He said, his eyes shut, tears flowing.

Lachesis stood, her hands clasped in front of her as she listened. She took in all the details, beginning to pace slowly. When he reached the end of his story, she tilted her head curiously. "Well, now. It seems you regret the ways you have woven your web."

She paced toward him slowly. "Tell me this, young spider. If you could unweave, forget, change. What would you do to fix all of this?"

"I'd make sure that I'd do everything in my power to make sure that kaya isn't hurt... ever again." He said, squeezing her hand. "I would give her my heart and soul... Even if she doesn't want it."

Lachesis steepled her fingers as she listened to Miles. She shook her head slightly. "Children. Always believing that love will win the day. It simply isn't true, young arachnid. The little goddess made her choice, and is bound by the very threading that I myself wove around her.

One man to give herself to. She chose him. And it was not you. We would not see her influenced by her mother's promiscuity and vice. Her mother is already uncommonly good at tangling my work. But it seems I did not account for her feeling for you, and using magicks she should not have."
The stare of the Fate settled on Kaya. The little goddess didn't shrink from it, only tilting her chin proudly.

"I won't denounce it, call it a mistake or say I regret it." Kaya said clearly and quietly. She squeezed his hand in hers. "I love him too much to see him bound unwillingly or forcibly. And I untangled the threads as best as I could." She said, unabashed.

Lachesis tsked out loud, throwing her hands up slightly. She turned back to look at Miles. "You both have gotten yourselves into this. What are you going to do to fix it? I will not unweave her choice she's made, and I cannot unweave this magick. But you know the truth, young ones. You're slowly tearing one another apart. So how do I fix this?"

Miles' faced locked with the ground. Truth was, he didn't know what to do. He didn't speak, he just kept his eyes locked with the ground,  falling quietly. Maybe he had just made a mistake. She was right. He wasn't chosen, so why keep trying?

Lachesis moved, standing in front of Miles. With a wave of her hand, Kaya was gone from his side. Leaving him standing alone in front of the matronly goddess. "Alone you have been through many of these choices. Alone you shall be for this one." She told him, hands folding.

"What if I told you I could make you forget your little goddess? Forget that you had any emotion other than friendship between you. Clear your mind of these feelings. You would not doubt her, you would not be pained each time you see her with the swordsman.

Or you can simply go on as you are, and sooner or later, rip apart all the good that's left between you both. Make your choice."

He looked at her, his eyes were red. "If I was to forget, how long would it last?" He was tired of the hurt. Tired of that feeling he got whenever he saw them together.

Lachesis looked athim. "Little arachnid, it would last only so long as you will have it last. Your choices weave your fate. And I only unweave someone's skein once, if at all. Now, choose." She folded her hands together, waiting patiently.

"I don't want to hurt anymore.. I want to forget." He said with a serious tone.

She gave a nod, and with a wave of her hands, Kaya re-appeared. She's struck mute, but tears are in her eyes. Lachesis looked at Miles. "When you awaken, you will remember nothing of this night. You will not remember being anything more to Kaya Mitsume than a friend. You will remember nothing of Lorelei, and nothing of what was. The slate is clean."

Their surroundings changed to once more being in the atrium of the Hall. The two are alone. Kaya doesn't take his hand, her eyes remain cast to the floor. She lifted her head, and in an echo of a memory spoke to him in song. "You don't want baggage without life time guarantees. I should tell you, I should tell you, I've always loved you.

Memories fade into the silence. With hope's last breath, I take this moment here. It will be our last. Then morning breaks, and sunlight takes the pain away. Ever after never came, and I'm still waiting for a life that never was. And all the dreams I lay to rest are ghosts that keep me. After all that I've become, I am only one.

I close my eyes and bleed this empty heart of all that longs to die. When faces lie, and love will fall too, I'm left with only time."
She lifted her hands, one at his head and one at his heart.

"Watching you sleep for so long, knowing that I can't turn the rain into sun anymore. I've given you all that I am. Now I stand here, too scared to hold your hand. Afraid you might wake to see the monster that had to leave. You are everything to me, this is why I have to leave. So, sleep well, my angel.

Under the ash and the lies, something beautiful once here now dies. I'm sorry. I'm sorry."
Light glowed from her hands, blinding to the eye, but warm on his face. Slowly, it became less blinding, and he watched the little goddess cry. " I will always love you. Just came to say goodbye love, goodbye."

Miles watched her cry, and he couldn't stop crying himself. He pulled her in got a hug. "I'm sorry it came to this, that all of this happened. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. You are my everything, and i swear, I'll always be there when you need me. I just.. I just couldn't do it. It hurt too much. It became unbearable. I just couldn't sit there and be on the sidelines. I know you're happy, and I'm glad, it's just... I'm so sorry... I will always love you."

She let him hug her, let him cry and lament. But like the immortal creature she was, she steeled her spine and her resolve. "Then stop. Stop hurting, stop seeing, stop suffering. Be happy, little spider. Forget me." She lifted her hands to frame his face, placing a gentle kiss on his lips. As Hypnos laid his own hand on the boy's neck.

The god of Sleep slid the teen back into somnalence with no trouble, sending him back into his own mortal shell. Leaving a sobbing Kaya on her knees in the Hall.
