Post by: haro masamune on August 06, 2012, 03:38:11 pm
the sun is setting, the sky is mostly clear, cicada are calling.
in this peaceful evening, haro and kaya are walking, hand in hand. haro is smiling, looking up at the stray clouds

An owl flapped from tree to tree, following the happy couple. Kaya watched him with a grin on her face. She giggled slightly at the almost comical scooting of the avian. Animals crept closer. Something about the little goddess had gotten their attention, but none of them had any wish to hurt her.

A female wolf followed in their wake, close and seeming quite protective over her. Kaya also seemed to keep her eyes on the trees. She was looking for just the perfect one. She always preferred that. She nuzzles her cheek against the arm of the man beside her every so often.

She pauses at the base of one tree, looking up into it. By some odd checklist in her head, Kaya decided that the tree was perfect. Wind swept around them, sweeping them upinto the limbs of the tree. They were cradled by the branches, as it seemed to make a fairly comfortable bed for both of them.

She sets both of them down lightly, pulling him down beside her, curling up to him. She gives a sigh of quiet contentment. to accompany that contentment, a purr vibrated in her throat.

Like a feline, she rubbed her cheek against his. "Mmhmm. It's an absolutely wonderful night." She remained in her contented bubble for moments, playing with his hand. She kneaded his palm with her nails lightly like a cat, twined her fingers with his, played with his fingers.

As she continued to play, she thought for a moment. Kaito would be returning soon. She wondered if he knew. It wasn't something she could avoid for long. "Hey, koi...How much do you know about your father?" She asked softly. This wouldn't make him happy.

"..." haro sat quiet for a moment. where did this come from? he sighed, and started. shed explain her reason on her own, no need to ask. "hes... a sort of bounty hunter, always away from home... thats all i could possibly know. he never once came to visit my mother and i..." haro was shaking alittle. hed moved to sit up, not feeling much like cuddling with this subject. he didnt know it himself yet, but at his mention of his mother, tears started to slip. "birthdays, holidays... her last days... the bastard didnt even show up to her funeral!" he yelled, punching the tree in his rage. his fist left a deep imprint in it, and the edges were charred. what used to be where the hole is was simply burned away.

She let him sit up, remaining curled into a ball and watching him. She listens to him, but she doesn't see his show of fury coming. He swings at the tree above her head, damaging the tree. She flinches, curling tighter, but there isn't really anywhere for her to go. She closes her eyes, lowering her head.

She kept her eyes focused down even when she opened them. She regretted bringing it up now. She nibbled on her lower lip, hands clasped together. They didn't worry at one another, only because the little goddess was loathe to make any movements. She wanted to apologize, but the words were stuck in her throat.

stuck in hers, but not his. he let out a sigh after contact, and looked down at her, then bit his lip, the tears only flooding more once he yelled. "i... im sorry. i just.." he couldnt finish his sentances. hes still shaking.

She still hasn't lifted her eyes or untangled her hands, but she speaks very softly. "I'm sorry. I won't bring it up anymore." She opened her mouth to say more, but then closed it. He wasn't interested in knowing what she knew. And she really had very few options, at this point. She voted to let his temper cool, stay still and escape when it was safe.

"..." tears were flowing freely from his eyes, and he took to biting his thumb, now that his lip bled freely. his whole body had gone tense, and his eyes were locked downward. hed scared her... he realy scared her... he reached over tward her, wanting to comfort her, but his hand stoped, curling back sensing her fear... her thoughts... "im so sorry... kaya i ... im sorry..."

She remembered this conversation. She'd heard it enough times to repeat it.  Their link allows him to see the exact memories he's triggered. He hears a deep male voice bellowing for Aphrodite. He watches, seemingly from a very young Kaya's eyes.

A woman, golden haired and golden skinned in a chiton much like Kaya has been known to wear, eyes the exact shade of his own princess', is frozen in mute terror. She whispers to the child that Kaya is, her voice musical. He can see such resemblances between this woman and Kaya. Both have that angelic appearance to them.

She tells Kaya to run, to hide, not to worry about her. Kaya begs her to hide with her, to leave with her. "Mama, please. Don't let him." That little voice whispers, pleads. But she's pushed away by her mother, ordered to go and hide.

She doesn't go far. She tucks herself away in a closet, but can still hear exactly what happens. The sound of the whimpers, the screams of her mother are unmistakeable for what they are, as is the sound of fist hitting soft flesh. Soon, the woman no longer screams. She simply whimpers. The little girl gets scared when even those whimpers fall silent, but the sound of fist meeting flesh doesn't stop.

Silence reigns, but the little goddess is unable to move. She's so terrified that he's still out there. But she wanted so badly to go to her mother. She crept from the closet silently, moving to her mother's side.

Broken body bleeding, that angel's face has been utterly disfigured. Her eyes, so much like Kaya's own, are swollen shut. Her jaw is obviously broken, it's delicate bones shattered. Her cheekbones are in much the same state. Her body is like that of a broken and mangled doll's.

Heavy footsteps echo behind her, that voice whispering, "So sorry, 'Dite. I didn't mean to. So sorry."

The remembrance leaves Kaya shaking violently, head lowered. She's curled into the smallest ball she can manage, obviously protectively. It's nothard to see the terrified little girl in the huddled mother to be.

haro sat there in silence for abit. just looking at his poor sweet goddess curled away in fear... of him. he looked down at his hand, then back to her. part of him screamed with more rage. more than ever, he wished to kill the god that scared his beloved and hurt her mother... but that was deeply supressed. more rage would only scare her. itd be bad... his hand crept to her slowly, wanting to comfort her. once more, it curled back in fear, but he pushed through to try and ease her. his hand rested lightly on her shoulder, and he crept hesitantly closer to her. "kaya..." is all he can utter... even appologizing had just been taken away

She was done re-living the memory, and was now fighting for control over her body. Wrestling with her own terrible memory. This was one of the horrible things about being immortal. The memories didn't fade away so easily. In fact, they could outright haunt you.

He called her name, and it centered her more. It gave her something to grasp to bring her out of the past. His hand on her shoulder was just another thing to do so, as well. Yes, he'd startled her, scared her. But that wasn't nearly so bad as the past. The past was done, and he wasn't that man.

She uncurled herself, turning to him. She could only go silently into his arms, holding him as if she wanted to sink into him.

he was stunned still for a second with her sudden return to his arms. slowly, he brought his arms around her, a soft smile returning to his face. he sat with her silently, holding her tightly, but gently

They sit in silence for a good while, before she gives a small sigh. "I need to start from the beginning. I shouldn't have brought the subject to you like this. I should have told you the tale. Will you listen with open mind, open heart and trust the woman you're going to marry?" She asked him softly, gravely.

This time, it's not him that sits up. It's Kaya. She sat straight, her brow furrowed. It doesn't take her long to compose her thoughts. She could tell this story as if it were yesterday's events. And to the little goddess, it was.

"Once, a man and a woman believed in love. Love that spanned eternity. Love that could overcome most anything. Even death. They found it the year both had turned seventeen.

Exceptionally gifted, very bright. These things were true of both. In their final year of school here, in this place. He had been betrothed to another woman. It was likely an advantageous marriage. But he found the woman of his dreams.

She was everything to him. Light, good, sweetness, and a stubborn surety about the things she believed. One of those things became him.

Theirs was a whirlwind romance. Both fell quickly, completely and blindly. And didn't realize that they had earned the wrath of a goddess. Or that another watched over them.

The wrathful goddess concocted a curse. But she waited to spring it upon the young lovers until they had much to lose, and therefore the deepest pain. That time came fairly quickly, as the woman found that she'd become pregnant.

Both were ecstatic. They made plans to marry, to build a life together. And that was when the angry goddess sprung her trap. She came to them three nights later, as both simply enjoyed time together, and laid down her judgement upon them both.

The man would bear the brunt of her harsh indictment. Eighteen years to sea, never to walk upon shore. One day to return. This is where the protecting goddess intervened. The two deities argued fiercely over the issue. Both were staunch in their position.

Finally, the protecting goddess made the other relent upon the severity of punishment. 18 years to sea, one year home. And not entirely cut off from one another. The protector would see fit to be a messenger.

The man was banished to sea that night at midnight. He spent his last hours with the woman he loved. Memorized the way she felt in his arms, her features, her voice and her scent to take with him.

They wrote one another every day. They shared the minutae of their days that they would not share. Dreams of the daythat he could return."
Kaya is silently crying as she speaks. A knot had grown in her throat, painfully. "The worst happened. The two never saw one another again."

"..." haro... haro could only look at her in disbelief... but she wouldnt make this up... why would she... and how could she? its too much... slowly he regained himself enough to speak. at that point, tears ran from his eyes. "a goddess..." he repeated just that part. always a god or goddess. the problems in both their lives... the targets... the ones hes going to slay... gods and godesses... ares... and now... who did this... but... anger didnt surface. not again, anger was forever cast aside... tears... pain filled its place. tears ran from the boys eyes. he was speachless. his parents story... one he never knew... the father he hated... demonized... was innocent... suffering... cursed...

Kaya pulled him to her, holding him tightly. She sat silently with him, letting him cry it out. There was little she could say. Nothing put someone's world back together when they realized how shattered it all was.

She spoke very softly after some time. "Your father will return in October. That's why I told you now. He knows we're happy and together. He doesn't know our other bit of happy news. I wanted to tell him together." She squeezed his hand. "Don't let regrets color your chance to build something meaningful with the old fox. You two will have a year."

when pulled in, he clung to her, burrying himself in her. it took him awhile after she spoke to pull himself away enough to look at her. he held her hand tight. "hes... " he cut himself off there, finishing the statement with a nod of understanding, and a smile.
