Title: Abandoned Prison
Post by: Kaya Mitsume on June 30, 2012, 06:52:41 pm
With metal bars beginning to rust through, and equally rusty padlocks, this deserted prison doesn't appear to have the capabilities to hold anyone among the living, but that doesn't stop it from holding other things.

Names and dates are carved into the stone walls, and blood still colors the floors and fixtures in various places. A frayed and dirty piece of rope remains tied in the rafters of this place. The metal bars of the death cages that this became rise and pierce into the ceiling. That rope is not within one of the cells.

One chair, sitting beside the cell furthest from the door, has begun to rot. Mice are now this place's only inhabitants, and even they don't seem happy. Death lingers in a sour smell and a deep shadowed pall over this place. Though it really shouldn't.

After hours of walking, Miles found himself walking in front of an abandoned prison. "Seems pretty weird.." He said to himself, jumping over the barbed wire to get to the free time grounds. He stood in the center, walking towards the main Cell Block.

He can hear something. The echoes of something being applied to the bars. Up and down. Like a baton. For just a split second, he can see blood on those bars. And then it's gone, leaving behind the rusting pieces of pipe.

His spider sense went off like clockwork when he heard the sound. He immediately jumped to the roof and looked at the bars where he heard the noise. When he saw nothing, he sighed and let his feet dangle from the roof.

He's nearly scared off the roof when the warning siren goes off. It's approximately 20 feet away from him. It nearly scares him out of his skin...literally.

It goes off for 15 seconds, and in the middle of oneof the wails, it is cut off.

Miles jumped when the siren went off, and the Suit didn't like that, receding into his skin.

The roof beneath him begins to rumble and creak, as it caves in. Miles finds himself falling backward into the darkness of the chasm that just opened.

It's not a soft landing. But, the venom suit saves his ass. It encased his body in it's dark tendrils. His breath is knocked from him still, but it's better than having every bone in his body shattered.

As he laid there, absolutely stunned for just a moment, he heard the rubble settling, dust falling. But underneath is the thickest silence he's ever experienced. The shadows are touchable. The blackness and depth is not unlike looking into a portal to Hell, itself. The abyssal nothing is yawning. It makes him shiver

But, he didn't believe in Hell...did he? If he wasn't sure, this gave good reason to believe. The daylight that should have streamed through that roof is nonexistent.

Miles gasps for air as he hits the ground, his breath knocked from him. He removed a boulder that had fallen onto him, getting his legs loose He looked around. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. It's quiet. Very quiet. "Am I in hell?? And If so, why am I here so soon?" He said, trying to look around

Something whispered in those deep shadows. The dark caught the voice so it didn't travel to the Spider so well. It was like it knew. Vibrations, sounds, were muffled.

Something brushed the ground, like silken fabric over a concrete floor. The instinct of the Spider knew. Something circles us... He couldn't feel footsteps, couldn't see movement, but his every screaming survival instinct said that there was something there.

Miles closed his eyes to focus.

What is it?? He thought to himself. He heard the voice, and jumped to the wall.

(Nope, I gots it.)

The wall is spongy. For just a moment, his fingers can't identify what they're feeling beneath them. Or it's possible his mind doesn't want to. The longer he's on the wall, the harder what it is pounds at his brain, until even his mind can't avoid it.

There's flesh beneath his hands. It's nothing so simple as skin. His mind screams as he realizes that this is what it would feel like if someone peeled that away. Muscle, subcutaneous fat. It rippled vaguely beneath his palm

Still that sound slithers in the darkness. A slithering hissing whisper came from the abyss in front of him. "Little black spider sat down beside her. Curious foolish thing like a puppet on a string."

Miles felt the substance under wall and jumped down to the ground. "What the ****.." He said, trying to figure out what was going on.

His hands had some sort of bodily fluid on them. It didn't smell like blood, and it was a bit more viscous than it, as well. A sound like dry autumn leaves over concrete came. It took his senses a moment to make the jump that it was laughter.

"Headlong fell into what, when he should have kept the puzzle box shut. Skipping merrily into my abode, now scared little pet at what has showed. Be still, little dear, you've nothing to fear. It'll be over in seconds, as Death beckons." Now that voice sounded like a playful little girl's, giggling softly at her own clever joke.

Miles looked at his hands, then wiped them on his suit. He looked around, trying to see where the voice was coming from. "**** this...I'm getting out of here." He said, jumping onto the wall to climb it.

The wall reacts to him, screaming in a voice that has been poorly silenced. It bucks him off from it, to the sounds of that cheerful little giggle. He lands hard on the floor again, though he is not stunned.

Where the voice had been centered, a dim light shone. Stepping into it was a little girl. Her flyaway raven hair was loose. Her palest moonlight skin was unearthly in it's glimmer in the light. Even without looking at her eyes, he' struck by the thought that this could almost be Kaya when she was a little girl.

Instead of comforting him, the realization makes it all the more eerie for him. It brought things a little too close to home. She spoke again in a sing song sort of voice, "Glad that you care just enough to stare. Don't let me off put you, or disturb what you'll do. I like to watch my prey run, it makes my meal more fun." The girl lifted her eyes, and he found himself gazing back at his own.

Miles blinked as he looked at the girl. "Kaya??..." He said, tilting his head. "No..Kaya's older than you are...." He said, looking around for an exit.

That silvery laugh, the little girl equivalent to Kaya's own, echoes through the room her was in. "I am not the one you hold in your heart, and yet I am the largest part. She is me, as I am her. I'll ever be what you'd prefer. To see the future in a flash, while past will burn itself to ash. A warning of what will come to pass, lesson unlearned, I'm afraid alas."

She looked at him for a long time, nothing but childlike innocence on her face, despite the darkness and cruelty of her words. She waited to see what he would do.

Miles shook his head. "Agh!!! I'm confused." He said, looking at the child. His suit started to form tendrils.

The little girl shook her head. "Not so bright, child of night. Problems aren't solved only with might. Learn that lesson, and you might live. Else Death come and take all you can give." She stood in that light, looking at him.

She didn't change, only standing and looking like an innocent, dark hair unruly about her head. "If you wish to struggle, I'll not hold you back. Come see me, little spider dressed in black." She spoke lightly, playfully.

Miles stepped foreward and squatted down to the child. "I wish not to fight, as I am weak. But I have one question: Why are you here? " He said, looking at the child.

The little girl held her arms up, asking to be cuddled silently. "I play in the dark, because it's scary in the light. I only want friends, but they don't like not having sight. So alone in shadows I play, until sooner or later, someone comes to stay. Will you be my friend? For a little while pretend?" Her last words cut deep. He knows that feeling well.

She looked up at him with those innocent little girl eyes. The eyes of someone who has been denied any sort of company or understanding.

Miles looked at the little girl. "Yes, I'll be your friend." He said, smiling.

She smiled happily, silvery giggle echoing around him. She clapped her hands excitedly. Her face lit up, so reminiscent of Kaya it made his chest a little tight. "A friend is something I haven't had before. They usually seem to try and run straight for the door. I'm glad that you want to stay and play. Is it possible to have your name, if I may?"

She looked up at him with his own eyes, and still spoke in riddles and rhymes. She's full of the playful mischief that a child is. The similarities are unsettling.

Miles smiled as her little face went up. "I'm Miles." He said, smilling.

She gave an adorable little curtsy. "I'm Charlotte, little spider Miles. I do enjoy seeing smiles. I must make them all turn up. Become rainbows in a cup." She took his hand. "Will you walk with me the halls? I know all of the walls." She told him, slowly beginning to lead him into that darkness. It still had too much presence.

Miles hesitated, but hell, the girl was so cute. He walked further into the halls.

He grasped her hand, and she led him toward those shadows. Soon that abyssal darkness swallowed him. He felt her fingers let his go, and he still remained in that black ink of shadow. She heard her bell-like voice giggle, but she was further away from him now.

"Silly spider, tricks are for kids. You didn't win when placed were bids." She teased him. Her little voice was merry and happy. His instinct shrieked to get out of the shadow, get out of that place. But even as it shrieked, it had no idea which way out was.

"Always they go so happily into the arms of the madness. But no one ever keeps that happiness. They think with a blink, it can all be undone. They never realize we are not only one.

We are many, in neverending abyss. We've found our own place of bliss. If you'd just embrace us, you'd have nothing to fear. But, you don't love us, that much is clear."
That little girl voice was saddened by that fact. "Fly and fly, until you'll die."

As if that were a signal of some sort, fluttering can be heard. Slithering, pounding, the flitter of wings, absolute pandemonium.

soon silence overcomes the little bug. he may run where ever he wishes, but an end never comes. as if the void is infinate. slowly a humming sound starts to build all around him. the humming slowly builds into voices. many voices, all children. they sing to him, their distance undecernable. "ring around the spider, listen for his crys. wraped up in shadows, how long till he dies?" the song repeated and slowly grew in volume, as if closing in on him. out at the edge of his vision, he sees small lights. many small lights. they form a circle around him

the children only continued, their voices multiplying and gaining in volume. soon they split into several rounds, till there were different groups singing each syllable at once. the many voices were maddening, and enough to hurt even the suit. so many voices, its impossible to focus on just one, but the mind desperaitely hoped to. the original song would sound a sweet salvation by now.

except... there was no roof. theres nothing. the void was, infact, truely infinate. when miles tryed to escape, something pulled the boy in and slammed him to the ground. above the boy were the children who called to him. their bodys were torn and rotted, each cryed bloody tears, but they smiled. and that was the unsettling thing. it wasnt sadistic, or false. they were the innocent smiles that only children could have. they continued their chant while circling him

'.' ... unexpected)
the children turned to dust with a final cry, a high pitched screach of pain, as if a banshees wail.more children quickly filled their place, but these were familiar faces. anihe, haro, jizero, kaya... and miles. he was looking down at himself, with the same song and smile as the others. their distinct voices were just barely discernable from the others

Abruptly, silence reigned. Those familiar faces stared back at him, eyes dead of emotion. As if someone had come along and stolen everything that made that person. There was no life, no sparkle, no feeling. They were all empty shells, mere puppets.

Shadow closed in about him, like someone was dimming the lights that didn't exist. Even in madness, the dark was cold and uninviting. It wasn't comfortable or comforting. It was draining and chilling. It lead him to believe that he wasn't yet complete mad. Perhaps on his way there, but he hadn't yet made the descent. The first hill of the roller coaster had yet to be cleared.

A whisper, just the breath of one, moved in a wave through the crowd. That sound froze his blood. It was hard to say why. The silence that followed in the wake of that whisper made a shiver skitter over his spine.

A creaking sound moved through those he knew encircled him, and tighter that noose of terror choked. His every cell knew that sound was dangerous. It was bad. His ears hear a chattering, only for his mind to realize that it was his own teeth clattering together in his head out of fear.

A deafening scuffle comes, orange eyes gleaming in touchable shadow, the glint of a predator's teeth as light struck off deadly fangs. These things are beginning to stalk toward him, clamoring over one another. He can't make out their shape, if they be humanoid or anything really in specific. Just orange flame eyes moving toward him at heightening speeds, and glittering sharp teeth. He was watching his death move toward him.

He couldn't not struggle, to run. Though he got the feeling that he was running circles, and getting nowhere. Hopelessness ate at him. Still his feet moved.

Little pains began striking at his feet and legs. When he peered down, all he could see was shadow. But something swam that abyss, and that something was biting at him. It drew his blood, that drove the horde behind him into a frenzy.

Weight piled onto his back, slowly at first, then faster and faster, until it beared himt o the ground. A gnashing, chattering, whispering mass of incredible heaviness sat on his back. It pressed him into the ground, suffocating him. He could barely draw a breath. His lungs were being crushed.

And even during that, he fell the things tearing at him, little pieces of his body going to those predatorial mouths. His air was being lost, his blood, his flesh, his mind. Everything was being eroded away from him. These things would leave him nothing of himself.

Even his love was taken in those moments, as he heard Kaya's voice in his mind tell him, "You're just another among the number. Another brick in the wall, another name on the list. You aren't special. You will be one more." The cold in that voice, the certainty. It shot straight to his heart, and clenched.

He felt the last vestiges of air leave his body, already feeling cold as his blood had drained so much from his body that his core temperature was dropping. His lungs had stopped attempting to draw air, too crushed. He was pretty sure both had been punctured and had deflated.

His bones had begun to snap. His spine was already snapped, blessedly. He could hear the bones crackling like twigs. And then nothing. Nothing but black.

........

He woke up in the yard of the Abandoned Prison. He'd passed out right outside the entrance to it, the gates still looming above him. That barbed wire he was almost sure that he'd jumped was still there. His head and body hurt. He just wanted to go somewhere and not be alone. The place still seemed a little weird...

The whisper. That made Miles freeze in place, but he couldn't move anyway. His spider-sense went crazy when the creaking sounds came. He thought he was losing his mind, and he tries to scream, but nothing comes out. He moved his legs, something was biting him, and he knew it. When the weight came, he tried to breathe, but could not feel any air coming to his lungs. Then, his body started to tear away. Then he heard Kaya's voice. Those words...They cut deep. His back snapped. Every bone in his body snapped, then he saw nothing.

He woke up in the yard, the prison intact. "...I need to get out of here.." He said, swinging away.

Miles landed on the perch of the prison once again. "And I end up here." He said. After his recent mess up, he wasn't sure about anything. Just another brick in the wall. He thought. It was the same thing that Kaya said in the prison..Or what he thought she said. He was confused. Confused and tired. He jumped into the yard and climbed to the roof, making sure not to land heavily.
