She knew precisely why he cried. There's little doubt in her why. But, she'd had a long time to accept the consequences if she ever loved a mortal. He knew he'd never have to watch her die. But, she'd watch him do so.

"Hold onto me, love. You know I can't stay long. All I wanted to say was, I love you, and I'm not afraid. Can you hear me? Can you feel me in your arms?

I'll miss the winter. A world of fragile things. Look for me in the white forest, hiding in a hollow tree. Come find me. I know you hear me. I can taste it in your tears. Closing your eyes to disappear. You pray your dreams will leave you here. Still you awake and know the truth. No one's there.

I will remember you. Will you remember me? Would you know my name, if I saw you in heaven? Would it be the same? I must be strong, and carry on. Because I know, I don't belong here in heaven."
She whispered in his ear. There's little denying that she's crying as well.

"Would you hold my hand? Would you help me stand? I'll find my way through night and day, because I know I just can't stay here in heaven. Time can bring you down. Time can bend your knee. Time can break your heart, leave you begging please. Beyond the door, there's peace I'm sure. And I know there'll be no more tears in heaven." It wasn't a game to her any longer, but she can't find her own words to tell him any of this.
